Beautiful home in a beautiful community

Three friends and I just got back from a trip in Cape Breton, and we stayed at Hilltop Haven fro two nights during our visit. The house was located in the charming community of Neil’s Harbour. You can see the water down below from the road beside the property, including the beautiful lighthouse and harbour.

The home itself was very cozy and clean. It had everything you need to enjoy your stay, including board games, DVDs, cooking utensils, lots of towels and extra bedding, and comfy beds.

The owners, Jackie and Greg, were very friendly and kind. They generously gave us some of the fish Greg had caught, which my friends fried up for supper the next night.

This location is also the perfect place to stay if you want quick access to both the park and the Northern tip of Cape Breton island. One of my favourite hikes in Nova Scotia, White Point, was only a six minute drive away. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Highly recommended!

We just spent five days in Neil’s Harbour at this lovely little cottage. It was spotless and very well equipped. Our hosts, Jackie and Greg, were most hospitable and were ready with tips for the area and offers for a ride on the fishing boat! This, of course, was the highlight for our boys! We loved our stay immensely and can’t wait to go back! Thanks again, our holiday was perfect!

Best part of our trip!!

We had the great pleasure of staying three nights in Neil’s harbour in July 2016 at Jackie and Greg’s place. The house was immaculate and Jackie and Greg were such gracious hosts, representing the amazing people from the east coast. Being able to go on the boat and seeing first hand the skill and grace of lobster fishing, and giving a great tour on the boat were highlights of our entire two week trip. I would recommend this gem to anyone blessed enough to visit the Cabot trail!! Thank you for everyone Jackie and Greg!

Great Base for Exploring the Eastern Side of Cape Breton Highlands National Park

Sure enjoyed our 5-night stay at the spacious and clean “Hilltop Haven” cottage. We were able to do lots of things during our stay. But hiking in the National Park was our priority. We hiked Freshwater Lake Look-off, Middle Head, Mary Ann Falls, half of the Coastal Trail, part of the Mica Hill Trail, and Franey – to the top for a gorgeous panoramic view on a gorgeous sunny day! And Gorgeous were the views from the Cabot Trail and on our drive to Meat Cove. Even the blustery weather provided spectacular scenes of crashing waves at the tip of White Point.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage, which would be ideal for families (super spacious for only the 2 of us). The washer and dryer were definitely needed by us as we were on a one month vacation of Nova Scotia. Thanks for being such friendly hosts. We enjoyed our conversations with you. And a special thanks to Greg for the fish, which lasted us for two dinners – absolutely delicious! We highly recommend the “Hilltop Haven” cottage! Be sure to go for ice cream at the Lighthouse!
